Mitsubishi unveils new XPANDER

KUALA LUMPUR 28 Okt. – Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has unveiled its latest locally-assembled Mitsubishi XPANDER which has begun its mass production in Pahang today.

 

As the third country to assemble the XPANDER locally after Indonesia and Vietnam, the new model is produced in the Pekan-based HICOM’s plant which is capable of rolling out 6,000 units of XPANDER annually.

 

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MMM, Tomoyuki Shinnishi said, the new XPANDER offers more than just aesthetic design and is a significant model that fit every Malaysian’s active and practical lifestyle.

 

“The move to localise the XPANDER is to meet the demands of our Malaysian fans by offering them more competitive price with better specifications that comes with extra convenience and comfort,” he said in a press release today.

 

To ensure the model adhere to the most stringent quality control, each unit of the XPANDER undergoes extensive quality control tests – checked by human eyes and cutting-edge technology, before shipping out.

 

According to MMM, the company has invested in enhancing the set up of all-new body shop, painting jigs and tester line at the plant.

 

“The new XPANDER undergo a pre-treatment and electro deposition by a 360-degree somersault in an ED-coat tank at one of the most advanced paint shops in ASEAN,” said Mitsubishi.

 

With the help of a robotic system, the car is painted with a layer of primer before being dried heated in an oven bay where it will be further layered with multiple coats to a fine finish.

Striving to achieve the continuous same high standards and quality consistency of Mitsubishi Motors production worldwide, certified Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) auditors are always stationed at the assembly facility.

 

Famed for its futuristic styling, comfort, and high driving performance, the XPANDER and the XPANDER CROSS has received positive feedbacks since its launch in Indonesia.

 

By end September 2020, the total sales volume for the series has reached approximately 270,000 units and the new XPANDER is targeted to be launched in Malaysia in November this year. – DagangNews.com
