KUALA LUMPUR 17 August - Pos Malaysia should start sending food.

Ludicrous? Outrageous? Why not.

The screamer above may be ridiculuous to some but how else can a company survive during these difficult times.

AirAsia co-founder Tan Sri Tony Fernandes delivered food. Singapore Airlines had also invited food lovers to dine in on its grounded aircrafts. So for Pos Malaysia..why not start delivering food?

The owner of an airline company, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes created a delivery business segment to cope with pandemic.

Pos Malaysia which has been making losses for the longest time extended its financial bleeding yesterday to a net loss of RM103 million in the third quarter ended June 2020.

The company appointed Charles Brewer as its new chief executive officer who started work on August 1. Brewer is Pos Malaysia's fourth CEO in 5 years.

Pos Malaysia announced last week that it is entering phase two in the outsourcing of 262 Pos Rider locations in the Klang Valley effective September 1.

"Pos Malaysia should have innovated a long time ago because as it is, Pos Laju cannot compete with J&T, Skynet, Ninja, Lalamove and others.

Just upgrade their services to be more efficient and they can make money," an analyst from Maybank Securities told DagangNews.com.

''Furthermore, Pos Malaysia is already a recognisable brand," said the analyst.

Pos Malaysia has all it takes and assets to rebound and all it has to do now is to reinvent itself.

For example, the logistics business is a 7-day operation. Thus Pos Malaysia has to do away with its no deliveries policy on Saturday and Sunday.

"And if we are not at home, Pos Malaysia would leave a calling card further inconveniencing the rakyat to go to their office and pick up the bundle.

All it has to do is call the customer in advance informing us their intention to come and deliver the package.

"Is that too much to ask?," said the analyst.

If it sticks to this policy, the company will never be able to compete with other logistics firm.

Drop the ego baggage Pos Malaysia and emulate other logistics firm.

Now is the perfect time as consumers are complaining that other food delivery companies are overcharging.

Don't wait any longer. Many Malaysians are waiting for their bubble teas to be delivered by the friendly Pos Malaysia postman. - DagangNews.com
