KUALA LUMPUR 29 March – Datuk Yasmin Mahmood is stepping down as Pos Malaysia Berhad’s Independent Non-Executive Chairman with effect from 1 April 2021; at the anniversary of having served a two-year term.
The Company said, “Datuk Yasmin had expressed her intention to step down due to her growing responsibilities in Malaysia and regionally. She has been a valuable member of Pos Malaysia; having steered the Board and Management towards embracing digital initiatives, rationalising the Postal Tariff as well as putting the Company in the right footing towards a robust turnaround plan.
The Company respects the wishes of Datuk Yasmin in wanting to spend more time in giving back to the society. It has been a privilege having her as Chairman and the Company would like to thank Datuk Yasmin for her invaluable contribution in making Pos Malaysia a stronger group and at the same time wish her all the success in her altruistic initiatives.”
Commenting on her journey in Pos Malaysia, Datuk Yasmin said, “It has been an absolute honour to serve as Pos Malaysia Chairman for the last two years. I would like to thank the Board, management and everyone in Pos Malaysia for the incredible support whilst I was Chairman. My decision to step down has been a difficult one to make but I look forward to seeing Pos Malaysia go from strength to strength”.
As part of the planning, Pos Malaysia Berhad has appointed one of its current board members, Dato’ Sri Syed Faisal Albar bin Syed Ali Rethza Albar, as its Non-Executive Chairman to replace Datuk Yasmin. Syed Faisal is currently the Group Managing Director of DRB-HICOM Berhad and had served as Group Managing Director of Pos Malaysia from 2008 to 2011.
At the same time, Pos Malaysia has also appointed Dato’ Jezilee Mohamad Ramli (“Dato’ Jezilee”) as its Non-Executive Director on its board. Dato’ Jezilee had served Pos Malaysia as its Group Chief, Corporate Services and is currently the Chief Operating Officer, Corporate Services of DRB-HICOM Berhad. - DagangNews.com
