KUALA LUMPUR 15 July - The automotive is a key industry in creating job opportunities for young talents in Malaysia.
It can potentially be achieved through the retraining and reskilling courses by Malaysia Institute of Automotive, Robotics and IoT (MARii) that offer local graduates the opportunity to secure a job placement in the automotive industry upon their course’s completion.
Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry, Datuk Lim Ban Hong asserted that during his visit to MARii Academy of Technology in Bukit Beruntung.
“Graduates and employees in the local automotive industry should fully take advantage of the reskilling and upskilling programmes provided by MITI’s agency, MARii, to further enhance their skillsets in order to meet the growing demands of the global automotive industry.
“This will help Malaysia realised its aspiration to be a hub of high-skilled workers and this is one of the catalysts to attract high-value investments to Malaysia,” he said.
There are 15 reskilling or upskilling programmes in the courses designed to help secure job employment for graduates in the automotive industry.
One of these programmes include the Automotive Industry Certification Engineering (AICE), curated to jump start the career of engineering graduates in the automotive industry.
With the programme, participants will undergo an 8 months intensive course which includes classroom training and on the job training in the industry.
The course aims to equip graduates with the skills in product and process design, manufacturing processes and quality management system.
Another programme offered is the Automotive Industry Certification Engineering Digital Engineering Prototyping (AICE-DEP), which builds upon AICE, with a focus on automotive design.
With AICE-DEP, graduates will take part in a 6 months intensive course with exposure to various skills and knowledge sets in the automotive design areas, including direct attachment stints with automotive companies.
Upon the completion of the courses, participants will stand the chance to be employed by a number of automotive companies based on the evaluation of their performances throughout the attachment period.
Last year, MARii managed to train almost 6,000 participants including university students, graduates and existing industry workforce participants in its programmes.
It expects to train an additional 9,780 participants this year. - DagangNews.com
