AFGlobal launched driverless connection system offshore Malaysia

Afglobal

KUALA LUMPUR 22 July - Oil and gas (O&G) technology provider, AFGlobal has successfully deployed its new technology of Stinger Deployed Diverless Connector (SDDC) system offshore Malaysia.

The system is connected to the first-ever subsea pipeline using NOV's Zap-Lok mechanical connector by services and technology company, Cortez Subsea.

SDDC is designed to improve safety with pipeline tie-ins installation and no driver needed which can save cost up to 20%.

World Oil said, the SDDC project commenced in April 2019 and was completed in April 2020.

Within a year, AFGlobal designed, built, tested and deployed two of the SDDC’s subsea installation for the Tembikai Non-Associated Gas (TNAG) field development project.

The technology was brought for the first time into market last year.

Following, AFGlobal planned to deploy it offshore Malaysia where Cortez Subsea won a contract with Petronas subsidiary, Vestigo Petroleum for pipeline installation in the Berantai field.

Meantime, Cortez Subsea said its first-ever built pipeline system can support their clients with quicker, safer and cleaner techniques.

The two combined technologies apply proven technology into new applications and frontiers in a drive towards greater efficiency and lower-carbon operations.

It also can reduce the reliance on large vessels and crew. - DagangNews.com
