Gamuda City in Hanoi named World Gold Winner at the 29th FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards

PETALING JAYA 17 July -  When we get the places right, the town works” – this is one of Gamuda Land’s key guiding development principles that the developer adheres to which is also its recipe to continued success.

Gamuda Land added another feather to its cap after its first overseas development in Hanoi, Vietnam, Gamuda City, was named the World Gold Winner (Masterplan Category in the 29th FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards, yesterday.

This is the developer’s third FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence award in a row, with Celadon City in Ho Chi Minh City, winning the World Silver Award (Masterplan Category) in 2019 and Yen So Park, Gamuda City taking home the World Gold Award (Rehabilitation/Conservation Category) in 2018.

“We are truly honoured to receive this coveted award for Gamuda City, which is also a recognition of our commitment to be a responsible developer who builds with respect to nature and the environment as well as for the community. The results seen today at Gamuda City – a thriving community in a green township brimming with biodiversity – are by products of steps taken in the past. It gives us assurance that our town-making principles and methods are effective,” said Gamuda Land CEO Ngan Chee Meng.

FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence recognises projects that best embody excellence in all real estate disciplines involved in its creation, and has recognised projects from 60 member countries.

The Master Plan category is judged based on the financial performance, defining features and its implementation as well as its overall impact and benefits the development brings to the environment and the community.

Located in South Hanoi, Gamuda City is built on the foundations of mindful planning. It means that every town-making detail from how the streets are laid out to where the town centre is placed down to the tree-lined neighbourhoods, the clubhouse, the parks, the eating and shopping places, the learning place – these are carefully brought together so that people and nature can come together harmoniously. When the details are well thought-out, the town will work for the people who call it home.

Looking at today’s results of a thriving community amidst a green township brimming with biodiversity at Gamuda City, little did one know that South Hanoi was once a shunned wasteland.

Gamuda Land’s foray into Vietnam since 2006 was based on its foresight and experience in town-making, as well as market validation. The journey was in-tune with the Vietnamese government’s goals of solving the nation’s decades-old problem of untreated sewage.

After 7 years of perseverance with strong engineering expertise, Gamuda Land successfully solved the problem through Yen So Sewage Treatment Plant. Then, the developer went on to rehabilitate the dilapidated Yen So Park into what is today Hanoi’s biggest park and largest urban green lung, before proceeding with the township masterplan.

Gamuda Land pioneered the novel concept of a properly planned township in Vietnam through Gamuda City.

With Gamuda City in South Hanoi followed by Celadon City in Ho Chi Minch City, Gamuda Land to-date has established itself as one of the trusted developers in Vietnam with understanding of the local culture, language, policies and laws.

“To us, it is not about creating “world-class” townships but taking the long-term view of creating good sustainable townships where the community can thrive in places where they will want to call home, grow up and grow old in,” concluded Ngan. - DagangNews.com
