SHAH ALAM 27 August  – Honda Malaysia chalked up an encouraging record with over 920 units of the 10th Generation Accord booked since its launch in February this year.

The 1.5L VTEC Turbocharged Premium (TC-P) is the most popular variant with a contribution of 78% to the total bookings to-date. To top it off, close to 500 units of the newly-launched executive sedan have been delivered to customers nationwide.

The Accord has retained its No.1 position in the D-segment in the first half of 2020 with a market share of 40%*.

In terms of colour preference, the brand-new colour, Platinum White Pearl, was the favourite colour among Accord owners, accounting for 33% of the total bookings.

As for the regional sales, the Central region contributed the highest number of bookings with 42% of the total bookings, followed by good acceptance in Southern region and Northern region at 23% and 19% respectively.

Honda Malaysia Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Toichi Ishiyama said, “The Accord was introduced to excite the market and redefine its segment with the combination of elegant design, enhanced 1.5L VTEC Turbocharged engine and a full suite of Honda SENSING.

"Since its launch, the bookings and sales performance for this flagship model have gradually increased, where the major contribution was during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) period that helped to continue its momentum.

"The National Recovery Economic Plan (PENJANA) especially the sales tax exemption introduced by the Malaysian Government has also supported the car sales substantially. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Honda customers for believing in us and choosing the Accord as their preferred executive sedan,” he said.

The good market acceptance attests to the 10th Generation Accord’s attractiveness with its elegant design. Incorporating a sleeker and classier posture, the Accord has been redesigned by drawing on a performance-inspired exterior with wider stance, lower roofline and longer hood alongside a fastback styling.

Honda’s signature chrome wing front grille, full LED headlights and taillights further complement its classy appearance. The executive sedan also sports New 18-inch Alloy Wheels** with Resonator that is designed to reduce tyre noise.

As the first Japanese mass market manufacturer that introduced Turbocharged engine in the D-segment, the Accord is able to provide an exciting driving experience yet remain fuel efficient at the same time.

The enhanced 1.5L VTEC Turbocharged is more powerful than a 2.4L engine, which generates power output of 201PS and maximum torque of 260Nm.

On top of that, the 10th Generation Accord is also certified with Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) status. First to be introduced in the Accord are the Walk Away Auto Lock, Remote Engine Start, and Driver’s Seat Memory that allows drivers to set and quickly access their perfect seating position.

There is also Driver Attention Monitor feature that helps monitor and evaluate driver behavior as well as alert the driver to take a break from long-distance drive.

Meanwhile, the cabin of the 10th Generation Accord bespeaks genuine enjoyment for the senses by featuring an 8-inch Advanced Display Audio in the centre console and a 7-inch Interactive Thin Film Transistor (TFT) Meter Cluster that provides easy access to information according to drivers’ needs.

In line with Honda’s strong emphasis on safety, the 10th Generation Accord is the only model in D-segment to be equipped with a full suite of Honda SENSING**. Notably, the Accord is a five-star safety rated executive sedan, awarded by ASEAN NCAP.

It offers the most comprehensive safety technology comprising Smart Parking Assist System with Brake Assist (Rear)**, which is a new feature that assists the driver to park their Accord easily.

This flagship executive sedan further pushes the comprehensiveness of safety and convenience for the driver by displaying the surrounding blind spots on its newly-introduced Multi-view Camera System (360° Camera)** and Cross Traffic Monitor (CTM)**.

While Honda LaneWatch enhances the safety performance of the executive sedan, the Accord is also equipped with standard safety features such as Six Airbags, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Hill Start Assist (HSA), front and rear parking sensors with Multi-angle Rearview Camera and Rear Seat ISOFIX.

Honda Malaysia is confident this flagship model will deliver the joy of ownership for customers even as it continues to excite the market with its refined elegance and dynamic performance as well as numerous benchmark-setting advanced features. - DagangNews.com
